Solitary Ostara Ritual

Preparations

For decorations use dyed eggs and pink and green streamers. Include a soil-filled cauldron, sword (or athame) a small shovel (trowel), a small pot a few of your favorite seeds and all your altar tools.

Ritual

Cast the circle.

After casting the circle, say:

“Here I am on this day, Ostara, Lady day, Rite of Eoster, The Vernal Equinox
and the first day of the planting season. I am here to understand life,
death, and rebirth, and to give reverence to those who have endured each.”

Bow your head to think about how Ostara fits into the three groups above and

how it fits into the wheel of the year. Say:

“I stand at the gate between the living and the dead on this night where
both light and dark are equal. I am here to witness the union of the Goddess
Mother Earth, the Waning Lady of the Moon, Of My God, Green Man, the Waxing
Lord of the Sun. Conception…a necessary transition on the wheel of the
year.”

Unite the blade of the Athame with the depth of the cauldron. Symbolizing
the Great Rite. Leave the Athame Standing. Hold the God candle and let the
flame become on with the Goddess candle’s flame. Replace these on the altar

and set them closer than they were before. Say:

“Elder Gods wish to bestow upon us the gift of knowledge. Thus they shall
speak.”

Use the small shovel to transfer soil from the cauldron to the small pot. As
you are planting the seeds, you should be thinking about your goals as
though they were the seeds. You can now conclude the ritual. Say:

“May these newly planted seeds material spiritual, and symbolic bring me
plentiful fruits and bounties.”

Close the circle and serve eggs and apple juice in your simple feast. Leave the cauldron and athame at the altar until Beltane to remind you of the seeds sewn on this day.

Ostara Law

Ostara

Spring or The Vernal Equinox
Also known as: Lady Day or Alban Eiler (Druidic)
March 21

As Spring reaches its midpoint, night and day stand in perfect balance, with light on the increase. The young Sun God now celebrates a hierogamy (sacred marriage) with the young Maiden Goddess, who conceives. In nine months, she will again become the Great Mother. It is a time of great fertility, new growth, and newborn animals.

The next full moon (a time of increased births) is called the Ostara and is sacred to Eostre the Saxon Lunar Goddess of fertility (from whence we get the word estrogen, whose two symbols were the egg and the rabbit.

The Christian religion adopted these emblems for Easter which is celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox. The theme of the conception of the Goddess was adapted as the Feast of the Annunciation, occurring on the alternative fixed calendar date of March 25 Old Lady Day, the earlier date of the equinox. Lady Day may also refer to other goddesses (such as Venus and Aphrodite), many of whom have festivals celebrated at this time.

Pagan Hare's Spiritual Affirmations

Here are some affirmations I have written myself. There are a number of ways you could use them. You could select an  appropriate affirmation as part of a ritual that could be used as a chant. You could choose one for mediation purposes. Maybe you could write each out onto a post it note and post them around your home. When you find one, read it, speak it aloud and allow it meaning to soak through you mind, body and spirit.

Affirmations:

I will remember the beauty of this world and respect all life.

I am loved by many, including myself.

In order for me to respect others I must respect myself first and formost.

I will remember to, respect and love my inner child today.

I will remember that positive thinking can work wonders.

I will touch someone with my love today.

I will remember and respect my true inner self.

I will love myself and others, love the Earth and love life.

I will learn from yesterday, live for today and look forward to tomorrow.

I will learn to share my worries and ease my mind.

I will remember the god/ess within me, s/he is my strength and my love.

I will share my smile today and make both myself and others happy.

Look up to the sky and let your mind, body and soul fly and be free.

My freedom is external, but it also comes from within.

I hope you find these few affirmations helpful.  Maybe they will inspire you to write your own.

Cross Placed at Air Force Pagan Circle Prompts Probe

Cross Placed at Air Force Pagan Circle Prompts Probe

Friday, February 05, 2010

By Joshua Rhett Miller

A large wooden cross was placed at an Air Force Academy worship area for pagans and other Earth-centered religions, prompting an investigation by academy officials, though some caution that it's hardly "destructive behavior."

Mikey Weinstein, founder of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, said an Air Force Academy staffer spotted the cross — erected with railroad ties — lying against a rock at a worship area for pagan groups at the academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Jan. 17.

PAGAN PRAYERS AND BLESSINGS

Brigid's Healing Well Spell

(By: Elizabeth Paul)
Waters of the Sacred Well,
Make our bodies whole and hale.
Pour Brigid's blessings out to me,
By Her waters healed I'll be!

Brigid's Blessing for a home

May Brigid bless the house where you dwell,
every fireside door and every wall;
every heart that beats beneath its roof,
every hand that toils to bring it joy,
every foot that walks its portals through.
may Brigid bless the house that shelters you.

Hoof & Horn

Hoof and Horn, Hoof and Horn,
All that dies shall be re-born
Vine and Grain, Vine and Grain

We all come from the Goddess
And to her we shall return
Like a drop of water
Flowing to the ocean

We all come from the Godess
And to her we shall return
Like a drop of water
Flowing to the endless sea ( Thanks sorcelle )

Alexander Cockburn: The Bible's had a rough time of it in America these past 40 years...

By Alexander CockburnLAST UPDATED 12:36 PM, FEBRUARY 4, 2010

Thirty years ago, driving across the hill country in the South, every 50 miles I'd pick up a new Pentecostal radio station with the preacher screaming in tongues in a torrent of ecstatic drivel – "Miki taki meka keena ko-o-ola ka" – the harsh consonants rattling the speakers on my Newport station wagon.
