Pagan's Magical Notes:

Well this weeks blog almost never happened. And yes, it's Monday! But most witches I know have busy lives, be it family and or work, and this witch is no exception. And yes, I haven't done the broom blog! I will, I promise (should I really do that?). I have made some changes to the weekly entry, well it's layout anyway. I felt this coming first made more sense. I have also added a key for the daily colours I post as I think it would be helpful.

On a magical level, it has been a quiet week. Though I did make a discovery of a perfect crystal. One of my skills as a witch is a healer. And I wanted a crystal that would aid me in this. Something that would protect and enhance. After seeking some advice I discovered a little rare stone called Apache Gold or Healers Gold. This stone both protects the one giving the healing from the illness and the stresses of giving the healing and also enhances. I shall post a separate little blog about this. I have also found out the Green Calcite is also excellent for when you are sending healing.. So I have purchased both these stones. The Apache Gold I have turned into a healers pendent. I haven't done so with the Calcite, I'd take out an eye at best...It's rather big *chuckle*.

This weeks entry from my Llewellyn's Witches' Datebook is from James
Kambos and some thoughts and ideas on Ostara (20th March).

Enjoy and have a blessed week.

Ostara
From Llewellyn's Witches' Datebook 2016

Ostara is a time of renewal and the balance of night and day. Symbols include spring flowers, baby chicks, rabbits, and pastel-coloured eggs. It's also a time to honour the spring
goddess Eostre. Ostara ushers in a season of growth and expansion.
If the weather permits, open your windows and doors to help renew the energy in your home, which is probably stale from being closed all winter. To attract peace, fertility, and abundance, decorate your home with potted daffodils and tulips. Outside your home hide a few coloured eggs to symbolise life and fertility.
At Ostara, early cool-weather herbs and vegetables such as chives, onions, and lettuce can be planted. As you plant, kneel upon the soil as a sign of gratitude. If you have any new ventures or projects you've been wanting to start, do it now. Ostara is a good time to begin anything. To bless a new venture, write it down on a piece of paper and place it in your cauldron. Leave it overnight. Then place it in a potted
plant and forget it.
Before your celebration ends, as a sign of thanks to Eostre, light a pale green candle.

Pagan's Magical Notes:

Goodness me. Somehow I managed to miss last weeks posting. My humblest apologies. Though I intend to make up for this by, hopefully, posting a couple of new blogs. One on celebrating you and another on the humble besom. So watch this space.

I do hope you all had a good week and that you are now starting to feel the effects of nature waking from her winter slumber and the days drawing out again. Though it must be said, last week was chilly in most parts of the UK. But I had a busy week of creating my own cleaning spray with added lemon and lavender essential oils. Both these have purification properties, love and longevity and lavender of course also has protection, making these ideal for cleaning your work surfaces. Again I hope to write a small article on such things as I also created a cleansing spray I use on my work surfaces before
I start work in my kitchen.

Now this Monday we have a Full Moon, so don't forget to put out all your crystals and tools you wish to cleanse and charge. You may also wish to create some lovely Luna water you can use in all your magical works, or add to washes etc. Simply put some spring water into a bottle and leave on your windowsill to adsorb her beautiful rays.

If you check the tags in the right column and look for 'Full Moon' you should find some prayers, spells, activities etc. And talking of the moon. The following is an from my Llewellyn's Witches' Datebook 2016 by Elizabeth Barrette about the Cougar Moon...

Enjoy!

Enjoy and have a blessed week.

The Cougar Moon
From Llewellyn's Witches' Datebook 2016

February is the Cougar Moon. The last part of winter favours the solitary hunters because there is so little food left, and the spring renewal has not yet come. The power of Cougar lies in grace and solitude. They are elusive creatures, never seen unless they choose to reveal themselves. From the cougar, you can learn about enjoying your own company.

To cast this spell, you need a single beeswax candle. Ideally you should be alone.

Light the candle and say:

Cougar unseen,
come from between,
to join in my rite.

Concentrate on how the golden-yellow beeswax matches the tawny coat of cougars. The wax's sweet smell symbolises the sweetness of solitude. Listen to the quiet around you and seek the pleasure in yourself. Think back on some things you have accomplished all by yourself. Visualise yourself as a cougar, alone and powerful, stalking through the winter woods. Feel your inner strength and know you have the self-sufficiency to stand by yourself.

When you finish, blow out the candle and say:

Cougar alone,
time has flown,
go back to the night.

Later, keep an eye out for solitary projects and activities you can do.

Pagan's Magical Notes:

Firstly, I must apologise for not posting this sooner. Like everyone life can get in the way
and that I do hope you all had a wonderful Imbolc or Lammas, depending on your location.

But I have been a busy witch this past week, which I shall post more about later this week.
I've been busy in my kitchen creating household things that also have a magical purpose
too, which I enjoyed immensely. They also have to do with spring, which is even better.

Due to not getting this sorted sooner, this is all I shall be posting today. But as per usual I
am going to share something from my Witches' Dates Book and, after a few weeks of other
writers, we are back to the wonderful Deborah Blake. This week spring is the main subject.

Enjoy and have a blessed week.

Spring Into Action
From Llewellyn's Witches' Datebook 2016

The earth is beginning to awake - more so in some places than others, but the energy for
forward movement is everywhere. This is a good time to set new projects into motion and
establish goals and take the first few steps forwards. Tap into the growing energy of spring
to help give yourself the energy to get things done. And then do them!

            Spring is growth and greening
            magick
            Buds, beginning, blossoms bloom
Spring is life in fragrant glory
            Emerging from the winter's gloom

            I embrace the growing power
And take it deep within my soul
            Enchanted by the greening magick
            Working towards my spirits goal

            Energy for growth and movement
            Energy for life's sweet dance
Rising with the sap to motion
My plans and projects to advance

Once you have said the spell, be sure to follow up with action!

Imbolc Poem

Imbolc Poem

Imbolc rising through the land,
Hope renewed by Brigid's hand,
In the ground the seeds uncoil,
Fresh shoots push up through the soil,
Mother ewes give birth to lambs,
Sired by the mighty rams,
Winter's grasp begins to fade,
Light renewed shall pierce the shade.

~ Words by Robin Green-Elk

My Imbolc Altar

My Imbolc Altar

Thought I would share some pictures of my Imbolc altar. My altar isn't  big, and was originally an old sawing box. So space is of a minimum on the top.

For my altar I found a lovely picture of Brighid with daffodils and early spring lambs. And an old painting of a farmer using a plough (another symbol of Imbolc.)

I haven't yet made my Brighid's Cross, I shall make that tomorrow when I visit the woodland. But I did make a Brighid Doll. She is dressed in white because she is a bride. The wheat is from my garden. It grew under the bird feeders last year.

My altar covers are simply a red head scarf, white cotton material and pink ribbons.
Have a blessed Imbolc. May all your seeds grow strong and be bountiful...
