Beltane At Thornborough Henge

Wow what a day...It was amazing, it truly was. I went to this incredible event with Chris and Paul, as well as mum (she really loved it), and I am truly thankful to them both for taking us.
I could sit here all day talking about the events there and stalls, and they were really good (I've added these to the end). The opening ritual was powerful and emotional (sadly we all forgot about the closing ritual, but we were getting ready to leave. The mystery play was funny! lol The Beltane Fool was also very funny :D There was also some handfastings....I wonder if Micki and Paul managed to renew theres?!

But let's talk about the Henge as that was truly the star of the whole thing and was why I went!
At first I felt very little. I was taken in by the shear size of it, it's massive. But after awhile it started to suck me in lol. All I wanted to do was wonder, I didn't much feel like making small talk with people, even my long time friends Micki and Paul. After looking at the stalls, the opening ritual and food, I decided to walk around the top edge of the Henge. It was, to say the least, powerful, though difficult sometimes because of all the gauze (masses of flowers by the way). I sat down a few times, to just take it all in and at one point it felt so incredible I almost felt like melted butter, I felt no weight, just light as air. But one of the strangest moments was when I decided to get out my pendulum. I wanted to see how strong the energy was, so I asked it to 'feel' the energy. Now normally if it's very strong it will spin very fast and will reach about a 10" circumference, almost the full length of the chain. But it has to spin very fast to do that. At a slow spin it will do no more than about 2". It did about 8 or 10", at the Henge, and was moving VERY slowly. The slowest I ever seen it move! I never said anything to anyone because I don't think it completely registered what I'd seen. It was also not affected by the wind (and it was very windy). The only time it was effected by that was when I'd reached a pile of stones and I was curious as to which had the strongest energy and so it was just a simple yes & no question, and so the crystal wibbled a bit in the wind. But that swing earlier was just very odd indeed. In all I think it took me a good half hour or more to walk it.

There were two other odd things. At the end of it I felt shattered, I mean REALLY tired, I can work all day, with young children, from 8 til 5 and not feel as tired. I was dozing off in the back of the car. Mum fell asleep at about 8:30 and she doesn't normally do that. I found myself the same. I was also really hungry, well not so much hungry, but I kept eating loads and I'm not normally like that.

Now what I want to do is visit the Henge when it's quiet. Just me and a few friends. I want to be able to sit at the centre, which I couldn't do for tents, and REALLY feel the place in all its silence.

It must be said, it was very different to the feel of the Nine Ladies, which those powerful, didn't have the same effect on me as Thornborourgh did.

Now for the other bits :D

There was plenty of stalls, but most notably was The Green Man Pottery or better known by some as Steve the Potter. Wow, if I'd had piles of money I'd have bought a lot more. The beautiful pentacle medallion is hanging to the right of my shrine under the green man in our living room. And you will be glad to know that I blessed the new goblet with some fine Black Sheep ale :D He had some very beautiful pendants and medallions, as well as mugs, goblets and plates and of course his Greenman :) His prices I think are exceptional!!! The goblet was £6.99 and the medallion was, I think, £10.50, though he did them a little cheaper on the day! Thank you :)

There was also Runesmith there, what beautiful jewellery. I bought a lovely pentacle triple moon bangle. He had all sorts of jewellery including Viking cloak pins, which I think I shall make a purchase of for my future cloak. My only bug bear was he had the tiniest of tents that allowed about 2 and 1/2 people lol

Then finally there was Wiccan Charms. She made some beautiful bead jewellery and charms. Most notably her Witches Ladders. On eBay they start at around £15 and the beads are glass and plastic. She was charging only £5! Mum bought a lovely necklace for a mere £3.50!!!

I think the foody side was poor, the organic people, whose name I have forgotten, were really expensive IMO. They were charging as much as £2 for a small slice of chocolate cake! But we took our own anyway AND some stalls were giving away cake and buns! YUM!!!
Well that's about it, I'm all written out now. Hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed going to the Henge. By the way, Chris and Paul, thank you AGAIN for taking us, it was truly a incredible experience!
