Pagan's Magical Notes:

Affirmation Stones

Ever looked at those lovely stones with  'power' words such as peace, love and dream and thought "I like those, but they don't sing to me"? Well it's not difficult to create your own affirmation stones with words and even images that resonate more personally with your own life or path. You choose need a couple of things. Your tools to create these are simple, especially if it's just words you want.

  • A fine permanent pen (you'll fine these in most craft shops or online, and you can find them in many colours)
  • If you want to add coloured images - Some acrylic paints
  • Some artist varnish to seal and protect the paint. You can find this as a spray in either matt or gloss. Again in artists shops or online. If you buy in a jar, you will need a soft flat brush. And not heavy bristle. Something like the brushes in the image below and about 2' wide. No less that 1 1/2'
  • Plus, of course, some stones. These are better if they are flat and a reasonable size too. Around about the size of your palm

Make sure your stones are smooth or you'll find it difficult to write on the surface and your stones are also clean.

What you write is entirely up to you, these are your stones. If you are unsure, sit and meditate on this. Make notes of your ideas...or just write down, on paper, what comes into your head without too much thought. Just remember, once you have written onto your stone it's permanent and cannot be erased. So start on paper and  make sure you are happy with your words.

You will find creating these beautiful stones very calming and will allow you to think clearly. It is a very meditative activity. You may want some calm music playing in the background as you work. Some herbal tea, candles and incense such as lavender or white sage (you can buy this as incense sticks and cones). All these will help to clear your mind and make it a very enjoyable and quiet time.

This is also a lovely activity you can do with your children. Have them create their own special stones.

New Moon

Of course we also have a new moon this week on Tuesday. You will find here a link back to a previous posting with blessings etc for the new moon. Maybe some of these blessings will give you inspiration for you stones.

As it's the new moon I thought I would find an article that was different to what I normally post. So below is a segment and link to an article called "Understanding New Moon" by Deborah Byrd. And then this weeks correspondences follow.

Enjoy and have a blessed week.

Understanding New Moon

by Deborah Byrd

What is the ghostly image at the top of this post? It’s a new moon. Its lighted half is facing entirely away from Earth.

The image above is imaginary. It’s as if you flew in a spaceship to a place where you could see the night side of the moon. Why do we say imaginary? Because, when the moon is new, its night face is facing us on Earth … and we can’t see the moon at this time.
We can’t see the new moon from Earth, except during the stirring moments of a solar eclipse. Then the moon passes in front of the sun, and the night portion of the moon becomes visible to us, surrounded by the sun’s fiery corona.

Once each month, the moon comes all the way around in its orbit so that it is more or lessbetween us and the sun. If the moon always passed directly between the sun and Earth at new moon, a solar eclipse would take place every month. But that doesn’t happen every month. Instead, in most months, the moon passes above or below the sun as seen from our earthly vantage point.

Pagan's Magical Notes:

Firstly, I must apologise for not posting this sooner. Like everyone life can get in the way
and that I do hope you all had a wonderful Imbolc or Lammas, depending on your location.

But I have been a busy witch this past week, which I shall post more about later this week.
I've been busy in my kitchen creating household things that also have a magical purpose
too, which I enjoyed immensely. They also have to do with spring, which is even better.

Due to not getting this sorted sooner, this is all I shall be posting today. But as per usual I
am going to share something from my Witches' Dates Book and, after a few weeks of other
writers, we are back to the wonderful Deborah Blake. This week spring is the main subject.

Enjoy and have a blessed week.

Spring Into Action
From Llewellyn's Witches' Datebook 2016

The earth is beginning to awake - more so in some places than others, but the energy for
forward movement is everywhere. This is a good time to set new projects into motion and
establish goals and take the first few steps forwards. Tap into the growing energy of spring
to help give yourself the energy to get things done. And then do them!

            Spring is growth and greening
            magick
            Buds, beginning, blossoms bloom
Spring is life in fragrant glory
            Emerging from the winter's gloom

            I embrace the growing power
And take it deep within my soul
            Enchanted by the greening magick
            Working towards my spirits goal

            Energy for growth and movement
            Energy for life's sweet dance
Rising with the sap to motion
My plans and projects to advance

Once you have said the spell, be sure to follow up with action!

Magical Notes:

A Fresh Start

Firstly...Happy New Year to all my followers! I hope 2016 brings you all
happiness, good health and prosperity!

It is never too late to give yourself a fresh start, and a new year is the
perfect time. We all have things we would like to put behind us, and
even though last Friday was New Years day, you can still take this first
week of 2016 as a time to give yourself a clean slate and a happier and
calmer mind. So here is a simple ritual for ridding yourself of any
negativity you maybe carrying with you from 2015 and encouraging
the positive into your life.

My Own Burning Ritual...Very Smoky!!

This is a simple burning ritual (be aware this can be smoky,
so you may be better performing this outside). All you need is two pieces
of paper, an envelope (white is fine), a pen, a heatproof dish and a charcoal
disc. If you want to give an extra kick, some black pepper, pine needles
and or myrrh (you could combine these in a pestle and mortar. Cutting the
pine needles up finely first). Do this on Saturday when we have the New
Moon. Write on one piece of paper all the negative things from 2015 you
wish to banish from your life and not carry with you in the new year. On
the other piece write your hopes and dreams for 2016. Seal this one in
the envelope and write something like “My dreams for 2016”.

Light your coal and allow to go white before you start burning.
Sit with this for a while, watching the coal change colour and think
about what you have written on the banishing paper. Say it out loud
if you wish. Now place this paper onto the hot coal and if you have some,
sprinkle some of your banishing mixture onto it. Say what ever you feel
in your heart as you watch it burn and add that you want 2016 to be a
better time, saying what you would like for this year. Whilst you are watching
the paper burn, hold the envelope containing your hopes to your heart thinking
nothing but positive thoughts.

Once the fire has burned down, place the heatproof container somewhere
safe too cool. Once the ashes are cool, bury them somewhere away from your
home. Traditional such things are buried at crossroads, but this isn't always
On or near your altar. You could maybe place it on your altar for Ostara as that
is when new life begins and it would give it extra positive energy.

Something from Deborah Blake...

I like now to add little bits from Deborah Blake. It seems to have become a tradition
when writing my weekly blog. So here’s spell to catch your breath after all the
commotion and madness of the holiday season.

Enjoy and have a blessed and loved week )O(

~ Pagan Hare

Going Inward

The holidays can be overwhelming, full of people and commotion. January’s cold
and quiet give us the perfect chance to catch our breath, going inward for a brief time
to reconnect with ourselves. Give yourself the gift of hibernation, using this spell to help
you go down deep where it is peaceful and quiet. Dim the lights and find a spot where
you can be undisturbed for five or ten minutes. Sit comfortably and light a white candle.
If you want, you can even wrap yourself in a comfortable blanket or shawl. Then say
this spell, close your eyes, and take a few deep breaths, going deeper inside with
each one. Ah...

Burrowing like the rabbit / Or the bear beneath the ground
The winter’s hush upon me / I do not make a sound
Let the world keep spinning / Without me for a space
I am turning inward / In search of peace and grace

Repeat as necessary.

~ Deborah Blake
